Baristatus proudly presents Las Virginias coffee, which placed 5th in the prestigious Cup of Excellence Honduras 2024 competition. This exceptional coffee is crafted from the Geisha variety, a renowned type cherished in the specialty coffee world for its unique aromatic complexity. Cultivated at Las Virginias farm, this Geisha is blessed with a distinctive flavor profile, thanks to its high-altitude environment and favorable climate.
Coffee Profile:
- Variety: Geisha
- Processing Method: Washed. This process enhances the coffee's bright acidity and clean taste, giving it a more vibrant and well-defined flavor profile compared to other methods.
- Flavor Notes: This Geisha showcases prominent floral and fruity notes, reflecting Honduras’s ideal growing conditions and the producer’s expertise. Staying true to the nature of Geisha beans, it delivers a deep, complex taste with balanced and harmonious layers, characteristic of top-tier Cup of Excellence coffees.
- Acidity and Body: Las Virginias Geisha has a lively, bright acidity. The body is elegant and well-rounded, with a silky texture that lingers, leaving a memorable and smooth mouthfeel.
About Las Virginias Farm:
- Region: Santa Bárbara, Honduras. This area is recognized as one of Honduras's finest coffee-growing regions, celebrated for its rich soil and high altitudes.
- Elevation: 1,650 meters. Beans grown at high altitudes mature more slowly, allowing them to develop deeper flavors and a more intense aroma profile.
- Producer: Josue Moreno Alvarado. As a third-generation coffee farmer, Josue combines traditional methods inherited from his family with modern processing techniques, striving for excellence in specialty coffee production.
Placing among the top ranks in Cup of Excellence competitions reflects not only the exceptional quality of the coffee but also the meticulous dedication and craftsmanship of the producer. The Cup of Excellence competition is known for its rigorous assessment, and coffees that score highly are recognized as some of the world’s best.
Brewing Recommendation: To bring out the rich aroma and intricate flavor profile of Las Virginias’ Geisha, we recommend manual brewing methods such as pour-over (e.g., V60, Origami). Using water at 92–94°C allows the coffee's delicate floral notes and lively acidity to shine. Our recommended recipe and grind size are included on the product package for optimal brewing.
Our Sustainability and Transparency Policy
At Baristatus, we prioritize sustainability and transparency in every step of our coffee production. In this regard, we collaborate with the Etki Çemberleri Foundation to address both the environmental and social impacts of coffee production. This partnership supports not only nature conservation but also the welfare of local coffee farmers. Our goal is not just to deliver high-quality coffee but also to contribute positively to responsible production and consumption practices. Additionally, the packaging materials we use are both recyclable and sourced from recycled raw materials, aligning with our commitment to sustainability.
In addition to our sustainability efforts, we adhere to a transparency policy. By openly assessing our costs, we set a target price for 100 packages of the Las Virginias series, allowing our customers to understand the value and cost structure of our coffee. This transparent approach helps our customers make informed choices, enhancing their confidence in our commitment to ethical, environmentally friendly, and quality-driven coffee experiences.
We are honored to share this journey with you and to bring you a coffee that reflects our passion for both taste and sustainability.
